As a general rule we only deal with two selected upstream hosting providers – one for Windows Server hosts and another for Linux/UNIX hosting. Our choice of provider is made by us on the basis of the services offered by the provider within the scope of their operating system expertise. That is not to say that there do not exist hosting companies that cover both Windows and Linux hosting, and indeed, ensure they have the staff with sufficient training and experience in both platforms; rather, that some hosting companies in particular offer a wider range of services, software and support in an area more suited to personal and SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) customers.

As we deal primarily with individuals and SME’s who may have no particular expertise with technical aspects of hosting and computing we thus choose providers who offer a wider range of add-ons and services targeted at this market at no additional cost.

In our Frequently Asked Questions section we cover some of the differences between Windows (ASP.NET) and Linux (PHP) hosting but, as a general rule, there is more investment (time and money) required by the client in having an ASP.NET website developed and published whereas PHP packages, like Joomla! and a wide-range of others, can offer a “standardised”, quick, stable and proven solution set that can have you online within a matter of days without the need for any investment in programming and development.
